The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The garden is rampant with aphids, sucking the living daylights out of my prime rose and bronzed fennel!

Time to declare war and bring out the cannons... I order my annual package of ladybirds/ladybugs.

They can each eat up to 50 aphids a day, and that's not all that's on the menu - mealy bugs, scale and leaf hoppers. Release them at night to ensure they stay on your plot. They don't fly at night so they should be able to get feasting before contemplating moving on to further afield.

When they arrive in the mail, pop them in the fridge until you're ready to use them. That way they'll stay dormant and happy campers. Releasing them is a super fun thing for the kids to do.
